Let's see your drum room!!

Hey! I appreciate the mention of the Drumgeon early on. Lately mine has become a true dungeon... crap piled on crap. Really bothering me but I had to relocate the stereo out of the little man’s grasp.

I’ve been working with a big band lately (better than nothing and fun at times) and of all the fancy snare drums I have, guess which one is pulling duty?

Since I can’t resize photos easily from the phone, I’ll explain the room. You walk in via a door that’s been cut down. Watch your head! Once in, hit the light switch on the left wall. I have modern ish halogen track lighting that looks a bit like a bunch of microphones so it works.

Just to the right as you come in, you have an exquisite view of the small boiler that heats the “tv room” and office spaces above. Stepping in, you are faced with the black kit. Set up with whatever snare I’m in the mood for, and some cymbals. I can actually play it, although these days it’s in cases a lot ready to roll out.

If you now turn to your right, you see that I extended the wall which hides the boiler straight back to the wall. The chimney foundation is here, so I built around that and rather than have dead space just to have a straight wall, I built in some shelves. The left side of the shelf (will be) typical adjustable shelves for drum heads and books. On the right side of the divider, I made a 15” wide space, which will also get adjustable shelves. This is specifically for snare drums.

On the wall across from the shelves is an exhaust fan. There are no windows in this ~10X12 room so it gets hot fast. The fan does a good job.

So, did you guess which snare I’ve been using?

Just could not put them back into the closet while this room stays empty until Sept. So I have my drum room now this is all I'll do today. I had them in here before but were set up different. I might like this way best. ...

Hey what is in that bass?

I thought I would revive this older thread, as it gave me some great ideas for my own drum "corner" (yeah, I don't have a room).

I ust received a couple of paintings and photos of my favorite drummers for Christmas, and I just hung them up. There's Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Art Blakey and John Bonham. Great inspiration and it really dresses up my "drum corner" nicely.

Oh, I also received my new Istanbul Agop cymbals as well. Not vintage, but goodness, do they sound nice!Mind Blowi

Thank you Hoppy, that was the idea!

I was really happy with the price of them, and the quality and the colors really pop. I wish he had a Krupa print though...

yeah they're (old Ks) down on the floor and in around the cym shelf About 17 of em --multiple sets---I gigged forever. Yeah gotta stop sampling Sticks ; )(I have) lol like we all do. That side snare yamaha SC 5x12 with a towel on it makes a nice table (altho I have gigged with it as side snare and (love it)

There's Red Wine Pearl RB 20/12/14/(brass snare) and 16 (bass convert) and 12 Red Glass RB in bags against wall. Owned for years (45). Couple WFL 6.5 6L snares are setting there. One grandma brown stock one and a hot rodded drum doctor'ed one.

The "new" Gunmetal 2000's 6 ply USA Gretsch (18,12.10,14, old RB snare) and Bosphorus cymbals take most of my time (and go to gig)

I don't break sticks (since I was 17 ; ) I love em vic firth maple Promark regal, vater....(I'm 63)...thanks, Jimmy
