So Christmas is coming soon, yay, and Santa :Santa: will soon be on his way. Is anyone out there expecting to find any drum related gifts under the tree this year? Excited

I am! (tease, tease x-mas2;))

Yes, my saintly spousal unit got me a set of No Nuts brand name cymbal toppers this year. They are a California partnership that had a booth at the PAS drum convention. The toppers are made of polymer and replace your rubber sleeve and wing nut. They are very tall so the cymbal does not come off unless it is mounted at a severe angle. You can use them with or without the traditional felt washers. That is about as exciting a present as it gets around here. Happy holidays to all!

The last time my wife bought me a drum gift, it was one of those ceramic djembe drums that you see at import shops......It's in the attic.

Are those the ones that promise to make your Zildjian ZBTs sound like vintage K's? x-mas3

My girlfriend is planning to give me a Home Depot gift card, strictly to use in building drum racks. She thinks that having three kits fully assembled and playable is a waste of my living room. her idea is that I build and stain some racks, and only have 1 set assembled at a time.

I like her, but sometimes she doesn't see the big picture. More rack space just means more drums, right? ;)

Current sets
2018 Precision Drum (natural maple, 10/12/13/16/20)
Gretsch USA: 1958 3-ply (white pearl, 12/16/20), 1976 6-ply (12/13/16/22), 1998 6-ply (walnut, 8/10/12/14/16/20)
Slingerland: 1963 (BDP, 13/16/22), 1966 (Sparkle red, 13/16/20)

I don't know anything about the Zildjian ZBT models but seem to remember they are a less expensive cast cymbal and designed for rock or loud usage, is that right? You must be telepathic, because I am planning on trying them on two vintage K cymbals, a crash and a ride. I have been using the little Camber tee tops for about 30 years so I don't do my share of supporting the drum accessory industry. The high hats that go with the old K's are 14" Matt Nolans and really blend well. I will post after Christmas and let the group know how they worked out (or not).

I don't normally brag about it, but yes...I am a Zen master Mind Blowi

Yes ZBTs are loud, sheet cymbals made for beginners to intermediate.

Could not agree more ! And if there is an empty spot on the rack it means it has to get filled in my book.
