I've never owned a Craviotto before, but recently a Premier snare drum with a Craviotto shell was up for grabs at a very reasonable price here in Sweden, so I bought it. It is a fantastic drum.
It is a Craviotto Modern Classic 5.5x14" maple snare drum. This drum was made in a limited run of 50 in 2005. My drum is number 4. It is in great condition and it came with the certificate of authenticity, signed by Craviotto and the president of Premier.
I have tried to find the specifications for this drum online, but without success. I am interested in shell thickness, rering thickness, hardware specs (I believe the rims are 2.3 mm goldplated steel), bearing edges and snare bed.
I have found a couple of contemporary reviews of the drum, so I know that it retailed for ca 1.100 GBP, came with Amb Renaissance batter and Diplomat snare heads, and 16-strand Puresound wires.
I put Remo Amb Coated and Amb snare on it, and a 12 strand Puresound wire. It sounds fantastic and is extremely sensitive.
I would be grateful for any info on the specs of this drum, and other experiences with it from owners, current or former.
I attach a couple of pics.
