The Gretscherland

Loading...

It's part Gretsch and part Slingerland, may I present, the Gretscherland!

I was somewhat concerned that someone had put Gretsch hardware on a non-Gretsch shell because the interior is painted white. But, after trying to get the heads off, I can safely say, it's a Gretsch, I practically had to use dynamite.

Anyway, did Gretsch ever offer a shell with the interior painted white?

Looks great! Never seen a Gretsch with factory painted interior. I’d just leave it alone. Stripping it would be a huge mess. Wouldn’t want to risk messing up the wrap.

Thanks, I have no intention of messing with the interior, just curious if it's factory.

Yeah, I'd leave the interior alone. Who cares, right? I once added a Gretsch floor tom to a Slingerland set. The lugs are similar, and nobody knew the difference.

My experiences with Walberg & Auge drums are consistent. The lugs on all of the drums within a drum set have all been of the same brand. My two current W&A sets have either all Rogers lugs or all Gretsch lugs. The same holds true for the hoops being of the same brand/type within each drum set. The throw-offs and snare butts for both of my drum sets are Rogers mechanisms with a W&A proprietary cover plate. I speculate that perhaps W&A made those strainers for Rogers. Every W&A set I've had the pleasure to own, play, or just look at has metal parts and/or shells from two or three or more major brands incorporated into the finished product. They also have some metal parts that are proprietary to them alone.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

May I suggest you start a new thread on your love affair with W&A drums.Kiss

Btw, the 12,16 are Slingerland, the 22 is Gretsch.

I have started threads about Walberg and Auge drums and also contributed to threads about W&A drums that were started by other enthusiasts of the brand. The drums are consistently very well constructed and good sounding.

hmm nah. what have you there; a Gretsch set with entirely Slingerland lugs? (on) Bass, small tom (13) and (16) floor?

a million years ago I remember a friend used Slingerland lugs on a gretsch tomtom shell: the Sling lug dropped right in the Gretsch holes

That's fine, but this thread is not about W&A drums.
