Does anybody know why we can't post videos in that section? I'd like to post a cool video of Dino Danelli I have, but cannot.

DrumBob!

Ya ... and the reasoning back then was, it was supposed to be a section for videos of different drummers/bands performances with no vids of the members playing. That request is actually right at the top of the section header .. but .. we did end up getting quite a lot of "members videos", so David just said screw it, and shut the section off. That was almost 6 years ago too. Today, if you wanted to put up a vid of The Rascals with Dino Danelli for instance, you can do so in the Vintage Drums section. By the same token, whereas the VDF has never been so much about the playing .. well, at least at it's inception anyway, as things have modified a bit since then with a much looser stance .. members can also post vids of them playing and the drums they are playing, or have restored, etc., in the Vintage Drums category, or even better, the General category. As long as it doesn't get out of hand we have no issue with it! I can also have a look at the possible reinstatement of the actual video section too.

In my opinion, it's nice to be able to post a video now and then, in a thread where it might relate to the subject at hand. For example, if the subject is the Ludwig Jazzette kit (posted in whichever section it might happen to come up), then it's kinda fun to be able to post a video of Roy Haynes playing it....Or, if there's a thread about Super Classics, then it's cool to see Joe Morello playing one....and so on. I'd hate to see videos segregated to just one spot...but it wouldn't be the end of the world, either.

Yup! ... and that’s what has been happening since the video section was closed with no intervention from David or me. It’s fine!, as long as there isn’t an avalanche of videos, which was never really the case anyway. Truly, the idea was to limit the amount of “here’s a video of me playing my drums”. Clips that feature a set of drums that pertains to the thread/subject have pretty much always been allowed, and in any category. We just didn’t want the category’s clogged up with videos posted at random, hence the dedicated section back when. So ya! ... no issue with that at all, as long as it relates to the topic... all good!

Just a thought, but since the video forum is dead, maybe you can use the space for a members forum where members can post pics of themselves behind there kit or with something drum related. It would be a dedicated spot for forum members to post pictures of themselves so we know what we look like. It would be nice to put a face to a post or thread. Maybe make it 50 posts before you can post pics there or something similar. These types of spaces are popular on other forums around the web.

I'm not trying to complicate your life Tommyp, just thinking out loud!

I don't see the issue here. Jonnyringo posts them all the time, and I like watching them. I would watch yours too reader, it can be done. So how is it not possible if Ringo does it all the time.

Are we looking for a simpler way to do it or something ?
