Looks like brass to me too.Whomever measured it may have measured it right side up across the bell, therefore getting an inaccurate measurement and adding an inch. I bet it's an 18".

My question is why you would purchase a cheap looking cymbal with no idea of its build quality or sound?. All you have to go by is a low resolution fuzzy image of a cymbal. It's probably not brass, but I'n curious why you didn't pass it by. Even if its B8 stamped sheet bronze, do you want it badly enough to toss away $37 for it on the hope that it doesn't sound like crap?

Well, I guess I thought it would be fun to see what I get. It's my $37 and I can spend it however the crap I want to, lol Excited I have done this in the past and 2 or 3 times got a vintage zildjian for really cheap.

Of course you can spend your money any way you want. I was trying to understand the logic behind doing this.
I can only speak for myself of course, but I'm very particular about the sound of the cymbals I acquire. Luckily living in central NJ I have access to a fairly large number of music stores and drum shops within an hour's drive so I'm able to hear and see cymbals before I buy them. I rarely buy online, but when I do I won't buy without seeing at least several sharp high resolution images and a well recorded sound file. I've acquired several mediocre cymbals over the years and I no longer want to waste money on cymbals that are just OK, or worse.

I completely understand what you mean. But I buy most all of my drum equipment online and all used stuff. I have a ton of cymbals and drum kits....if I get this cymbal and don't like how it sounds, i will either resell it online or put it with a drum set I'm selling. I kind like the mystery of it and anticipation of not knowing exactly what it is. I had the $10 off coupon and figured $37 isn't much for a cymbal anyway.

Doesn't sound bad at all! It really doesn't look like a Zildjian, though. Almost like a Wuhan-style cymbal...or something similar. It's got a nice "trashy" crash sound, that I find pleasing. Overall, I think you did great for what you spent! Still, it would be nice to know what brand this is! Regardless, enjoy your "bargain" cymbal!
