I’ve got a pair of bass drum hoops that have hairline cracks. My plan is to fill the cracks with glue and then clamp the affected areas. I’m looking for recommendations as to which glue would work most effectively for this type of project. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and your help!
Repairing Cracks in Bass Drum Hoops
Hi OldSchool!
Not sure how bad the hairline cracks are, but here's a link showing how I repaired the Rogers Big R hoops. Just scroll down until you see the pictures. You might also have to go to the next page to see my results... http://vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=65068&page=6

Hi, Mark. Always great hearing from you! That was some restoration effort that you did on that Big R kit. It looks like you "killed it", as expected! Thanks for sharing the narrative and pics of the repair effort. What I didn't see (and, maybe I missed it) was any mention of the type of glue that you used on the hoops. Perhaps you could fill me in? Also, thanks for the information that you provided regarding the "Plastic Wood", as well as the Pearl HPP-2 Hoop Protector! Very good to know!
Completely forgot about what glue I used! I used Titebond Professional Strength wood glue, but any similar type glue from your local store (Home Depot, Lowes, Ace) will do the job equally well.
