I am corrected by those who know their blues better than I...and I am gracious as well. Always learning...
I may know my blues, but I can't hold a candle to your knowledge on Japanese drums! We all learn from each other. :)
O-Lugs, Section2, jonnistix, thanks very much for your replies!
Hmm some are saying OBP others BOP - same words, different order! Anyone know what the original catalogues said? (or where to see copies of them?)
O-Lugs, what would you do with the extra drum if selling as a 4-piece?
Well Mark, there are many members on your side and throughout Europe as well that are members here. I promise you, if you list them here, you will get overwhelming response as this is a great looking set of drums.
And this is the catalog of colors from the Identification section of the forum. Should clear up the semantics.
That looks like a 1123 Ludwig hi-hat stand there. That is nice! Too bad about the extra tom being added. Does that extra tom have a clear interior? You really can see how batches of oyster colors changed from year to year! Oyster blue bowling ball looks much different.
yeebs! That's a bit different... Maybe even a bit startling. I see what you mean now (thanks for sharing the pic).
About the extra tom, yes, a dilemma. Can I throw open to everyone the question...

[*]Do you think I should put the 12" drum for sale separately, or do you I should keep the 5-piece together?
[*]Likewise, include the snare (because it was bought together) or put that out on its own?

I imagined it's more of a player's kit who'd like a bit of history but mainly wants to use it, like I did, rather than restore it to a 4-piece.
What do you guys think?
Like WFLKurt said, it's cool to see the variations in the OBP wrap; the two badge shots really show it. Most folks call it Blue Oyster Pearl, but the catalogs have it as Oyster Blue Pearl. And, like Kurt also said, you've got the hi-hat everyone else wants. It's got some rust, but would still fetch some dough cleaned up. Anyone ever try & disassemble one of those & replace rusted parts ?
Nice drums; Take off one set of spurs, put some chrome bolts in the holes, & sell 'em with both toms. List the snare & hardware individually. My 2c...marko
Ooh - just noticed a piccy in a different forum...

Those must be the later Ludwig spurs, as someone added to my kit (I didn't realise they were authentic... assumed they were a home-made job!)
Anyone know when those spurs were introduced & on which kit?
I believe those spurs came into being in about 1970.
