CB700 Watch Lugs

Loading...

I just bought a CB700 kit for $30. My parents picked it up for me up where they, so I will probably get them this weekend. By the pic, I'm thinking these are the 13" and 14" rack toms. Were these drums made in the late 70's or were they early 80's? I have read they are most likely made by Pearl...is this correct? Also, I have always been intrigued by unique lugs....and these are definitely unique :) Did they just straight up steal the look from some of the Camco/Tama lugs (see attached)? Any info on the kit would be appreciated :)

Maybe they borrowed the lug design, but the Tama/Camco joint venture did not last. I have seen a lot of CB 700's from this period, and own some.I hope you have the tom arms...they are hard to come by. 13/14 makes me think 1/2 a double-bass kit.

Don't think the tom arms came with it :( I think the 13 and 14 rack toms came with single kicks too. I found some old ads with this setup.

The lugs in phot#2 are not CB700 drum lugs. They are Tama/Camco lugs.

The CB 700 luds are round they will have a small piece of plastic in the center round part of the lug.

This could be silver, red, blue, ete the piece of plastic would match the color of the set...

Yes CB drums are made by pearl..

I realize the lugs are different...I was trying to show how the Camco/Tama and CB700 look similar :)

Cool info on the center being colored...I noticed I had seen some that were colored but didn't know if it was like that from the factory.

Got the drums...they are dirty! I'm going to re-wrap them. The floor tom wrap is cracked pretty bad anyway. Got the hardware off and am in the stage of cleaning the chrome....man that is alot of work :) The center pieces are kinda messed up on several and I like the all chrome look better anyway, so I am popping the center part out. I will post pics once I have got the kit finished!

I don't have a pic of them setup yet (still waiting on a kick drum head) but here is a pic of the toms wrapped.

I sent for a swatch from the fabric company you used to recover an 18" CB floor tom in galaxy sparkle. How did you attach it to the shell?

I use double sided carpet tape on both ends. Works well for me: [ame]https://www.amazon.com/Double-Sided-Acrylic-Adhesive-Carpet-75-Feet/dp/B0026SO3M0/ref=sr_1_93?keywords=carpet+tape&qid=1572279584&sr=8-93[/ame]
