That’s the set we talked about here. Donn Bennett is working with the owner on the sale .. but .. could take a while, if at all! Niche item for a specific buyer, and again, if there is one!

Was it authenticated to be Buddy's kit?
OB!
I was asked to help authenticate the drums by the owner and Donn. As is the case so many times with things like this, no one that was involved is still with us to comment .. so .. it becomes a matter of the clues left behind, both with the build of the drums, the serial numbers, photos, and other indicating factors. The backstory timeline is also an excellent aid. Based on ALL of that, it was my opinion that this set could certainly have been one of Buddy’s early Slingerland sets .. ( 1968 ) . With all that said, it’s really up to the potential buyer to make the final decision. I have helped authenticate three BR sets to date, this being the 3rd. I know the other two sold! Have to see what happens with this one.

The listing has a pic of Buddy adjusting his snare, standing next to the BD clearly showing the unfilled holes I questioned. That did it for me. It appears he moved it back and forth from factory holes to mod holes on that side. Why, I have no clue.

I think the consensus was that this set has one of the first bass drums that he got from Slingerland before he started telling them where to locate the cymbal mounts hence the move and filler carriage bolts.
