Another Ludwig Standard on CL

Loading...

Here's another Standard I found on cl, it's a cool finish, but the kick has modern legs, so, extra holes.

What do you guys think is a fair price for the 12,13,16,22? No snare, cymbals or stands.

Bronze Strata, that's cool.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Is that a matching snare, or, just reflection from the rack tom and bass? Try and get the snare thrown into the deal to sweeten the pot...

Cheers

He wants $950 with the snare. I tried explaining to him that extra holes de-value any vintage kit. I think these kind of guys see clean, original Standard kits with a matching snare selling on Reverb or eBay for $900-1,000 and figure the new legs are an improvement.

Ha! Thats funny! Far from an improvement. Shame about them legs.

$600 with the snare is what I'd say.

Those spurs are an unfortunate mod, and if you want to get real nit picky that's the wrong tom holder on the bass drum, although still a Ludwig. So the center hole was drilled out too. That's a less catastrophic mod but still not original towards ultimate top dollar. These wraps were very thin and get brittle with age so a close inspection might reveal some issues there, some age well but others get splits and cracks. They still look good from a few feet away but aren't "top dollar pristine".

That's one of the tougher colors to find but not as sought after as Lemon or Avocado. $650 with the snare (probably a $200 drum by itself if original and in good shape) seems okay....too high for the color and the mods otherwise.
