I just did a test fit of those two custom-made brackets. I think they're going to work great!I'll just need to separate some of the plies, get some glue down into them and then clamp the brackets as shown and leave them for a minimum of 24 hours.-Mark

Great. Thought at first you were going to use the metal strips to replace some of the wood in the hoop.........................

DUH! This makes way more sense.

Just finished gluing and clamping the bass drum hoop. Those custom-made brackets are great! I'll take the clamps off about 6:30pm tomorrow night, Friday. Cross your fingers! LoLoLoLo

It should be fine I always add a brass or furniture tack to help it out

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

This should add strength for when you attach the pedal right? Do you think that it will detract from the value or add. I know that some people get very opinionated about stuff like this.D' Drummer

I think it looks great.

Hi Catherine!

This repair won't add value to the kit, but, it won't detract value! All it does is fix a much needed repair so that a new hoop won't be required. I also just ordered a Pearl HPP-2 "hoop protector". I use these on all my bass drum hoops. They go over the bottom of the hoop, where you attach the pedal, and keep the hoop from getting all chewed up. Attached is a picture of this part on my custom painted Pearl kit.

Having this part will also help to strengthen the repaired section. It's a worthy addition to the Rogers bass drum hoop!

Why not put the repaired section at the top of the drum? Gonna be painted and likely not seen anyway. Then you have good wood to use with the protection piece.

Hi amosguy!

Yes, I considered doing that. Honestly, though, I don't plan on painting the hoops, but to leave them as-is. I'll wait another few hours, remove the clamps and brackets and see what I ended up with!
