Hi catherineThe condition of your ludwig 402SS for year is great. The 14x6.5 are in big demand and you need to hang on for a good price. Its absolutely all original some surface marks scuffs. Cant see any chrome falling off shell as most had very bad chrome. All rods and washers are all the same as some have odd tension rods. Its cleaned up great for year. To sum up you have a very sought after snare drum in absolute original condition. Better than just some players drum. The scuffs will make some difference. Here on ebay in the UK exact same snare drum as you in better condition. He wants £675GBP. He is not very realistic. I know in the USA prices do vary but there is no way you should take less than $400USD. Thats based on the condition of your drum. Some will try and get it off you for less. If you look on ebay USA you will see some staggering prices on these 14x6.5 SS snare drums. The rogers drums you need to sell them seperate to the snare drum. Then cymbals seperate plus hardware seperate. You will definitely bring more $$$$$$s that way. A lot of prices depend on how quick you want to sell. Im sure more on here will give you opinions.As a last note Mark IDFF has done a great job on the snare drum plus the rogers drums. ...Thx sean

Mark has said the same thing. I do not think that trying to sell the whole together will work. Thank you for all the great information. I am not trying to sell these things quickly but I do not want to take a year or more.

Thanks for your kind remarks! The snare drum deserved to be cleaned up as best possible. I think I did a pretty good job. And, it sounds great, too!

Next up are all the Rogers drums!

Hi Jeff! I have really limited woodworking repair experience! I'm hoping that using those curved metal pieces to mold the flat hoop area back into shape will work out. If not, I've got you on Speed Dial!! LoLoLoLo

Ok, I've begun cleaning up the Rogers Big R shells. Here's a "before" shot of the bass drum, followed by "after" shots of all the shells. I only needed to wipe each shell down with a damp cloth, followed by a good buff and shine with Novus #1. I did use Novus #2 on on the rack toms, but only on the back panel that faced the drummer. Just a bit of scuffing that softened up very nicely with the Novus #2.

Completely forgot to mention that after I wiped off each shell, I then used a Mr. Clean "Magic Eraser" to remove spots and black scuff marks. These "erasers" work great!

The New England White wrap is very clean and there is absolutely NO fading!

Now for that bass drum hoop repair!

I went to my friend's metal shop this morning, since I had to install a new computer that controls his punching machine. I charge him next to nothing for labor...but get things made in return! I showed him my bass drum hoop and my plan to get it back to shape with two metal brackets. He agreed that that would be a good way to go. He picked out a piece of cold rolled steel, 1/8" thick and a foot long and proceeded to shear off some 1.5" wide pieces, the same width as the bass drum hoop. Took those pieces to a rolling machine and they turned out great. One is marked "inside", as it has an almost perfect inside diameter as the bd hoop. Start to finish? Ten minutes!!

I just did a test fit of those two custom-made brackets. I think they're going to work great!

I'll just need to separate some of the plies, get some glue down into them and then clamp the brackets as shown and leave them for a minimum of 24 hours.
