Pics of my DC1000 Kit (Remo shells)

If you want more info on the DC1000 (Drum City) drum kit see this post: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=65049

I found/ordered this kit online from a music store. I was intrigued by the unique/cool "DC" lugs and finding that the latter (starting in the 80's) DC1000 drums used REMO Acousticon SE shells and Quadura wraps. The shells are very thin and produce great resonance. They sound pretty stinkin' amazing and are extremely easy to tune up. The shell sizes are 22x16 kick, 12x10 & 13x11 rack toms and a 16x18 floor tom. This is the first 16" tom that I have owned that is deeper than 16"! Only issues with it is that it is missing one lug, one of the bass drum leg holders is broken (leg is missing), tom arms were not included and the tom holder mount it missing on the 12" tom. I got it for $100 shipping included...so I can't complain, lol. Very unique and rare kit!

Here are some more pics. Notice the pivoting tension rod lug/receiver in the first pic. DC1000 advertised this as the "unilug" setup. This helps the tension rods from binding up because the angle can be changed.

My hunch is that all of the missing bits are pretty much generic except for that one lug. If the lug screw spacing matches up with any other brand of lug, you can keep that mismatched lug facing you until you can find a DC replacement lug. You may even already own tom arms and spur receivers that will work. Good luck and have fun with your new acquisition.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Right now I am just going to set it up as a 4 piece kit. So I took one of the lugs from the 12" rack tom I'm not using to place on the bass drum which was missing the lug. You are correct about the bass drum spur/leg, I ordered a pair of generic ones that look like they should work.

When I spoke to Joe from Drum City, he mentioned having a DC snare drum and extra lugs for sale. So I am getting the snare and 8 extra lugs! I'm pretty excited to see this snare drum :)

Also, I forgot to mention I contacted REMO about the DC1000 drums and sent pics of the shells. They said that they are the first gen, 220 Acousticon shells and that there aren't many still around.

That is great news about the snare drum and the spare parts from Joe. Is the snare drum the gold wrapped Acousticon shell? I hope that there aren't many first generation shells still around because they didn't sell many of that first generation rather than those shells failing. Once again enjoy the hell outta those drums.

I think it is just a chrome/cover snare but not 100% certain. I have a REMO gold wrapped piccolo snare that sounds great! REMO did seem surprised by how good of condition the shells were in....maybe they had issues with the first gen shells not holding up. I am definitely enjoying the drums. When I get a chance, I will post a demo on youtube.
