Suddenly Inherited Rogers Kit From Brother - Restoration!

For the rust, try tin foil and water. Yeah, it works!

Wipe the hoops and other parts with soapy water and cloth, this helps bring out the rust. Then dip a small piece of foil in plain water and rub gently and watch the rust disappear. Make sure foil stays wet as you rub. Then polish.

Nice job Mark!

I am so glad I found this forum! The drums probably have never looked at good as they do now. I completely trust you Mark and will recommend you to anyone who inquires about your restoration abilities. Amazing.

Hi JimmySticks!

Thanks for the info! I've heard that lots of people are using tin foil and Coke. I even saw a YouTube video and it appears to work well. I'll give it a try!

Tin foil crumpled up and most any liquid will work well. I have also used green nylon scrubbing pads on the spurs and tom arms with good results. No chrome there to scratch.

Can't wait for the finished pictures. Good job.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Good to know about using almost any liquid. I'll be posting more pictures as I go along with the refurb.

Thanks, kdg!

I won't take any more hardware off the toms and bass until I complete the snare drum, hopefully by this weekend.
