Can somebody tell me why this Slingerland kit has been languishing on e bay for nearly a month now?
I almost went for this kit, but I asked the seller a few questions and he never responded. Being a newbie, I guess I got spooked. Seems to be a very fair price to me, and even has a Make Offer and free shipping! And it is in pretty neat condition, and that lipstick red looks killer to me.
So school me on this guys. Thanks!

Made in Taiwan. Seller is mistaken on the year being '84. '84 was still Niles, Illinois. Good quality imports but the market says they are not worth what the seller is asking.

If you're interested in Slingerland drums, stick with the USA stuff, and there are plenty of sets for sale. Some dingbats are asking stupid money for older sets, but there are bargains out there. Usually, delusional sellers list sets at sky-high prices, then after no one responds, they drop the prices accordingly, sometimes dramatically.
I've seen Slingerland sets listed at $1500 and wind up selling for $800 and change.
That eBay kit appears to be from the early 90's HSS era and would be the Artist Classic series. Five-ply shells, consisting of inner/outer plies of Canadian Maple, with three inner mahogany plies. Yes, assembled in Taiwan, but nice drums.
Wait! I take back what I said about the HSS era. Those badges were black/gold and had "USA" on the bottom, which was very misleading. I'm not sure what wood was used in the kit in question. I purchased my 1994 HSS kit for $300, with free shipping. There was no wrap and all hardware removed from the shells, but included. Here's what I did with them...
So, yeah, $520 is a bit much!

Mark your info is correct. Two badge types were used on imports during the HSS period. Black/silver oval without any country of origin and Black/gold with the lone (misleading) U.S.A. on the bottom.
