Only the Facebook link works. I don't think I ever heard Bill say could have.
Never said could have?
Never said couldn't have.
So what are you trying to say?
Like it or not...Cymbalholics has been dying a slow death for years now..So many of drummers (including myself..) left out of dissatisfaction with some of the more virulent site members..guys who probably never did a single gig in their lives..That said..there were some good people still left there as well..But when you have working drummers leaving by the droves..as well as the regulars..its just death by attrition.. How long can you have the same 5 to 10 members repeating the same old stuff to each other...year after year..It became a site just for those guys..But..Chad did everyone a favor by ending it pronto..and now you can get back to your lives..lol..I would think Cymbalholic is not ever coming back..and if it does..it will be even more gone than it was..19 years was enough..and even though it was improved with new sections only a short while ago..and then..The end..Just goes to show..When you divest yourself of most all of the good members..There is simply nothing left..
Let's just put this in perspective. If you didn't like something you read, just remember, it wasn't required for you to read it in the first place. But leaving just because you got offended by something or things you read? Sounds to me like you just needed to grow some thicker skin. And about those 5 to 10 members that you speak of. These were the ones contributing the greatest amount of information there. And I'm sure that after you left you were still lurking around there just for that; because it couldn't be found anywhere else on the web.
(He confused That was Paul Francis saying " K Dark Medium could have been in the K Constantinople line" . I won't confuse you any further Oddball.
No, I meant that plenty of so called experts say things like for instance that could be from the 30, or it could be from the 50's and it could be this or that stamp. Drumaholic will tell you what it is and Zen spends more time helping you see differences, comps if you are looking for pricing or popularity weights and sizes.
They'e easy to find here and you don't get your email covered in sign up site stuff in between your mails.
It's really why I don't bother to look anywhere else. If they ever leave here, I would find them because they are all you need with vintage Zildjians.
I don't play cymbals all that much but I can say there is a clear difference between B8 and B20 cymbals Be 20's always produce more bell sound no matter where you hit it and I hate that. B20's always wash much quicker too.
I might sound crazy or out of my mind but to me, a cymbal is something to hit if you don't have another drum most of time. Others play more cymbals than drums.
That does not apply to the HH, I use HH for crash all the time and is why I have only two other cymbals.

During approximately 2003-2009 I was a fairly active member of Cymbalholic. I started to post less after Cymbalholic came back with a redesign after it had been offline for quite a while (I don't recall exactly when or for how long it had been unavailable at this point). If I recall correctly most of the posting history and a lot of the previous content was no longer available. Over time I found I had less interest in the site and began to peruse it less frequently. This was partially as a result of joining VDF in 2009. However, I did not leave Cymbalholic for the reasons that you suggest.

If I ever start a site I'll make sure that its mostly orange with black trim. Agreed, that was the best.

Uhh..where did you get that from..I didnt say that at all..
But leaving just because you got offended by something or things you read?
Nope..direct conflicts with a few a-holes there..some know it alls..who never played a road gig in their lives..but loved collecting cymbals..and having an attitude..whilst playing sprang a lang..in their living rooms..
Sounds to me like you just needed to grow some thicker skin.
Thick skin doesnt matter..and as I remember..they booted you out w/o a second thought..I'm sure your skin felt great...and you.....were the guy..that started the freekin site..lol..
And those guys with thin skin that demanded Chad tell you to take a hike w/permanant banning...they all left soon after..hows that for irony..? lol..
And about those 5 to 10 members that you speak of. These were the ones contributing the greatest amount of information there.
A lot of other people who left contributed a lot too..and adiosed with a real bad taste in their mouths....but the ones that stayed year after year..probably didnt have anything better to do..
I can remember Paul McCartneys druummer was there for awhile..and left out of conflict..
...Mr Acrolite (a published author...) also left out of conflict..
...Chad actually brought in Sun Ra's drummer..and he lasted about 2 weeks..before the incredible Cymbalholic members..told him he was playing jazz all wrong..made sure to insult him on the way out..
..the list goes on...and on..
Until..you are just left..with 5 to 10 guys..all drinking the same koolaid..with not a gig in sight..
And I'm sure that after you left you were still lurking around there just for that; because it couldn't be found anywhere else on the web.
Speaking from experience eh..?
Cheers!
