Where did those members you speak of go EDL.
Most everyone on cymbalholic was a gigging active (over the near 20 year span) and or experienced drummer.
I can tho- think of 'another site' where the drums never leave the Living room , the size of the marine pearl is magnified , and the cymbals are hardly ever discussed dfo..
Cymbalholic was -is- (it'll return)- was a jazz orientated- player-orientated (themselves and legends) site.
In-depth- 20 page- Discussions of Ed Blackwell, Jon Christensen, Tony Williams, Max Roach, Al Foster, Elvin Jones, Barry Altschul ......(and their cymbals) proliferated were common there.
Old As, Old K, Istanbul, Paiste, Bosphorus, Spizzichino...every make big and small...past and present..findings discoveries and displays - were all common in posts and thread topics.
I don't see that (in 19 years) anywhere else ( a little bit here) but no where else.
I never saw any majority leave and if so where did they go.
It was it is- a cymbal-centric site.
Paul Francis posted. Head of Zildjian R & D. I don't see Mr Francis on any other site (excluding FB)
Paul Francis actually would correct and clarify - at Cymbalholic- some of the techniques (and misconceptions) that and what went into new design cymbals...
I haven't have never don't see another site like it.
Drumaholic gave it a great foundation and that foundation carried on (in his absence)- carried on by many of the early members. The template was laid down established by Chad, Drumaholic, Doc Polis, others; early on and it never changed.
Check how many threads going in-depth on a drummer say like Philly Joe Jones exist on another forum.
Yeah. (none)
This site VDF- is the only other that has had in depth ( hmm wonder why..) cymbal discussions.
I can't think of another. Others are majority all drums.
If anyone couldn't find a way to get their word - cymbal word or cymbal thoughts- in edgewise it certainly wasn't the sites fault .
