Is This Seller Serious?

Check out this Ebay item. The seller has a nice vintage Pearl set for sale in a rare finish. He's looking for $2000. I think he has high expectations, but perhaps not. I could be wrong.

You MIJ experts. What do you say?

You're not wrong! This seller has exceptionally high expectations! Honestly, I'm seeing this more frequently now with MIJ kits. There are high prices and then there are what this seller is asking...completely unrealistic!

Every now and then, a kit sells for what I consider to be an unrealistic price. Here's an example of one that recently sold...https://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-mij-drum-set-/323700528558?nma=true&si=bx9WV3cXrzO1j3qcHx65sDntyGg%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Next, there is this kit...https://www.ebay.com/itm/1960s-Vintage-3-Piece-Club-Kit-Silver-Sparkle-Drum-Set-MADE-IN-JAPAN/273854553315

I believe the seller has the disease called “ItsworthmoreifIownitthanifyoudoitis”.

See it all the time on the bay.

Yeah, that listing has made the rounds on the vintage MIJ FB groups. The general consensus is that the seller is out of his mind. I agree. Cool kit, not $2000 USD, though.

He will own that kit for a long time at that price!!

I agree that MIJ prices have been on the rise, but, sellers should still be somewhat realistic with their prices...

Cheers

From Peedy

I believe the seller has the disease called “ItsworthmoreifIownitthanifyoudoitis”. See it all the time on the bay.

And we're seeing it on Reverb too.

I believe the seller has been smoking a lot of crack cocaine! Really. He will be sitting on those drums for a VERY long time at that price. If that set has made the rounds of the various forums already, I'm surprised no one (maybe they have already) has notified the seller of his overly enthusiastic expectations. I'm tempted to do that myself.

I think he's fishing for a well-healed sucker who likes the finish and can't live without them.

Now, this is a set I'd consider, because they are in primo condition with new heads. And seemingly priced sensibly. Listed at just shy of $425 and there's a Make An Offer. I just wish it was a 22" BD.

If the price were only one thousand?

they would still be crazy overpriced, even if they were totally pristine.

considering now that the floor tom wrap is cracked

five or six bills would be right about top dollar for them.
