Mystery bongos

Loading...

I think I might have a bit of a stumper here.

Slotted tension rods.

Teardrop type lugs. I am not going to automatically conclude Sonor though, not identical to their teardrops I don't think (though I admit I have not researched much yet).

Threaded mounting bolt.

Gray interiors.

Can anyone ID these?

Having a hard time loading pics.....will continue to try.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

DJ, are the “tear drop” lugs two-step with parallel lines running top to bottom? If so, the description sounds like the vintage Premier bongos I have. Sorry, I can’t take a photo because they are at our rehearsal space.

SONOR had three styles of drop lugs. Shark tooth type large and small, small neck and long neck. Do you see it ?

Hate to do this, but am going to have to until admin solves my IT issue.

The hoops, lugs, and rods (bigger head) do look 50's SONOR to me, if they are Nickel plated, that's out. The wrap and interior finish say no SONOR. (Lacquer only)

If it was re-wrapped and painted, there would still be three tiny little holes where a script badge tack would come through.

I wont make the call yet but will give you some input.

I suppose that it's one of the german Tromsa brands.

Answered at DF also.

Cheers,

George.
