Here is picture of a drum I am interested in.

Only question is that I thought the snare wires went all the way across.

Does this drum look correct?

thank you

Those are replacement wires. It should have gut strings that would go all the way into the strainer. Each would be a separate string that goes from butt plate to strainer.

Similar to these,....

Definitely replacement snare wires. I think the seller probably doesn't know. Either that, or he's lying and hopes people will believe his line. Make an offer and point out that the wires are not original. If he insists they are, walk away.

Well it has a make offer selection, and I think the drum has a lot to offer.

I wouldn't pay the $700, but gut strings also don't hold a lot of value to me personally.

As a looker, yes, I would want all original, but I'd rather play it and have it sound good.

I have two forties model deep dish Leedys and they sound terrific.

One's a mate to this outfit.

Good luck with it. I would still tell the seller the wires are not original and use hat as a bargaining chip.

Agreed that it is a bit pricey for the drum.

I paid $450 for mine last year and its a 1940's Leedy 6 1/2" x 14" Broadway Series in Red Sparkle, almost mint condition.

No Guru - I just love collecting & learning about vintage drums!

Some of my favorites from the kits in the collection
58 WFL New Yorker Blue Sparkle
67 Ludwig Hollywood Red Psychedelic
69 Ludwig Standard Red Ruby Strata
70's Ludwig BOP "Ringo" Kit

A few of my favorite snares
20's Leedy Black Elite
51 Leedy & Ludwig Knob Tension
58 WFL Buddy Rich Classic Blue Sparkle
63 Walberg & Auge Sea Blue Agave Green Pearl
66 Leedy Shelly Manne Blue Agate Pearl
