Hey Brian. Well, in Mpls I quit actively searching for a variety of reasons, not least of which is that if something good pops on CL (a rarity) guys here deploy like firemen on a three-alarm.I have a buddy in NY who says there's so much stuff out there that he ignores most of it. If I told you the really rare $hit he's scored in the last 3 months you'd pee yourself silly (I know I did: think Ringo not once, but twice).Yeah ... so I know exactly how you feel about stuff never blooming in your neck of the woods. But you're a lot closer to the action than I am (and you have free health care).

LOL! Well -put, Chris! You're right. "The grass is always greener..." The weather up here is lousy but, when we get frostbite, we can have it treated for free!

... and you're in STALKING distance of Neil Peart. There are many, my friend, who would allow their nether-region to frost over to warm themselves by Peart's fire. I bet being situated there in the crotch of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie affords you and yours a double dose of lake effect snow ;}How easy is it to cross into and return from NY with percussion contraband? Maybe with all the distraction on the U.S. southern border (you know, The Mexican/South American Invasion {at least they're partially American}) it's primetime for you to set up Operation Vintage Drum Lift???

Actually, Chris, the bass player in my band is best friends with the gentleman who served as best man at Neil's wedding. He stores a lot of Neil's drums at his house in St. Catharines. Johnny, the bassist, even got me an autographed set of sticks from Neil! I'm afraid to use them though!

Hey, I think you have a great idea about the drum lift! Back in the day, I could drive over to Niagara Falls, N.Y. and buy a twelve pack or a case of beer and the border guards would just smile and wave me through. Of course, those days have ended. Deservedly so. An airlift though? By God, it just might work! There is even a small airport about twenty minutes away! What a great idea!

Okay, that is the best story I've heard in a he!! of a long time, Brian. There are not a lot of famous drummers I'd like to meet, But Neil would be one of them. Your bassist has had you over, right, and then you proceeded to his friend's for some Great White North brews!?! To, at minimum, dust drums???Beer, over the border, and back ... the good ol' days. Hmmm ....

Hey, Chris!

Nope, I haven't visited The House of Peart. Although it would be fantastic to see some of Neil's excess drums, I don't think I could take the arrogance of his friend. A couple of years ago, the gentleman came to one of our shows and seemed to enjoy it. Once I started talking to him though, I soon realized that his ego was bigger than any kit Neil had ever owned! The conversation always reverted back to what great friends he and Neil were and how much Mr. Peart treasured his very existence. There are enough delusional musicians out there as it is. I don't want to encourage any of them. Personally, I'd rather listen to some kids having a blast in someone's garage!

Brian

P.S. I still like your idea of an airlift though!
