Price check on Rogers Holiday

Loading...

Greetings,

I am traveling for work and found myself in St. Charles, MO Music Go Round (St. Louis area). They had a five piece Rogers in Blue Onyx wrap. Two 12" rack toms. One is a Tower model (center mounted lugs). 16" floor tom and 20" bass. Snare is matching wood and is a luxor. All have gray interiors with Cleveland tags. Missing the script Rogers badges. Swivo hardware. Two swivo holders on bass, being used for two toms. One was probably originally for a cymbal arm. $1,000. Pretty good condition. Good deal?

These boys think it is mahogany shell drums. Second tom is cymbal mount placement. 6 lug snare? Both 12" toms? If there are no cracks in wrap, they are a bit high IMHO. Give them a call and see if they will deal.

The $600 shipping is ridiculous. If you can drive and get them, sell the Tower tom to recount investment. Worth about $250 if good condition.

A great looking kit! Probably around 1964-66 and in a Headliner/Constellation type of configuration. The second Tower tom was certainly an add-on and could be sold separately. The second Swivo arm is a Dayton style and could easily sell for $100. If there are no cracks in the wrap and hardware condition (tension rods, hoops, interior mounting screws) are good, the kit is easily worth $750 - $1000+. You can recoup more than $200 by selling the Tower tom and Swivo arm. JCcabinets is in need of a single Swivo arm!!

As to the shipping, it's got to be a mistake! Call them, or stop by, and negotiate!

I like how none of the close ups are of the Second tom with the missing tension rods.

I noticed that, but to me it wouldn't be important as I wouldn't use that tom anyway. Still, those missing items are a good negotiating tool!

Great insight, Mark. However, the shipping is not a joke! Music Go Round stands firm on their shipping quotes in my experience and what I've heard from others. That said, it's still hard to believe they would really charge that much.
