L&L Bass Drum Cymbal Holder

I've got a Ludwig & Ludwig bass drum cymbal holder from the '20s or '30s, from what I've been able to determine. The piece resembles a "metal comb" to me (lol). Would any of you L&L experts happen to know how this piece actually functioned? If so, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks in advance for your time and your help!

"Foot cymbal holder"

This attached to the lower BD hoop (usually rh side) with the slots upwards (as per the last image 144) .The angle varied according to the hoop & cymbal size. A wing nutted bolt & a pair of felts would sit in an appropriate slot of this arm and the "foot cymbal" would be bolted on.

Pedals with the cymbal striker arms would then be adjusted to belt the crap out of the cymbal in tandem with the BD as required..

Amazing bit of gear it is...

There were a lot of these around in the day with very little variation even Olympic in the UK had one almost identical..
