Concert tom "flashing"?

Hello, I've got a 70's Slingerland concert tom set.

It's technically an 85N pop outfit, but the bass drum is 22" and the floortom is the full 16" depth. While the bass drum has the chrome edge around the front side, there is no flashing or trim on the toms.

This omission drives me crazy! It seems like every other kit has the front head on the bass drum. My bass drum is about 13-1/2" and has no bearing edge under the chrome.

Anyone have any idea where to get the aluminum trim that covers the resonant bearing edges?

You may be able to source some 90o angle trim from an auto supply/trimmer. Something flexible (Vinyl ??) that could be adhered to the toms...

Surprised that they have lasted this distance in fairly good condition..

Is the bd trim original? Looks like it was added by a previous owner.

The bass drum trim is original, Slingerland supplied concert bass drums with a rippled aluminum vinyl inside, the chrome edge, and bass drum head with the logo inside. It's also a 5 ply shell, where as the rest of the kit is 3 ply.

The bottoms of the 12 and 13 do have notches from rubbing the bass drum T-rods

No trim on the toms... in later years they added the trim..

My kit is from 1972, obviously it came without the trim, reguardles of what the catalogs show.

However I am trying to find some.

It's also worth noting that the shells are red inside in that pic.

As to the depth of the bass drum, Slingerland and Ludwig seem to have had many drums that were not cut to the length, or depth, they were supposed to be!

The question was never "did it come with the trim?" Because I know it didn't.

I'm simply inquiring where to get some.
