Where to find a brass grommet for Slingerland Cloud badge.

Loading...

I have an early 90's Radio King that I purchased used. The drum has been refinished and the badge was put on with a screw on vent that is not only the wrong colour but does not look right because the the outside flange is to large. A 7/16 brass grommet fits way to loose and a 1/2 inch will not go into the holeHelp2.

Funny thing is the screw on vent appears to be 31/64 which fit the hole just right but any type of vent like this that I have seen advertised on the web is 1/2 inch. Does anyone know where to find a brass grommet between 7/16 and 1/2 inch?

I'm working on this same problem right now. I will post a result for you I hope in the next week. I have one cloud badge snare that was not as thick as the one I'm working on now and the grommet was no issue. The one I'm working on now is kicking my butt.

30's Radio King - 26, 13, 13, 16
49 - WFL Ray McKinley - 26, 13, 16
58 - Slingerland Duco
58 - Slingerland Krupa Deluxe
70 - Ludwig Champagne Sparkle - 20, 12, 14
70 - Ludwig Champagne Sparkle - 22 (need), 13, 16
And some others..

Could you wrap the smaller diameter grommet with a piece of clear tape or something that would "flesh out" the diameter? It would be hidden forever inside the wall of the drum shell and the interior edge would also be flanged over once installed. Only you would know!Burger Kin

That would solve the problem of the grommet fitting in the hole but the badge would still be loose. I tried to open up the flanged part a bit with an installation tool but all it did was bend the non flanged side.

If it comes down to it, you could use O-Lugs' tape method to flesh out the grommet, and solve the badge problem by gluing the badge to the shell. It may be cheating, but you'd be the only one to know! :)
