Vintage Ludwig 20s/30s?

Loading...

This was in rough shape sitting in the corner of a music store. It was advertised as a 20s Ludwig kit. I cleaned it up, got new heads, added the trap table, woodblocks and a few odds and ends. It's quite fun to play. Some have suggested that the highboy hi-hat dates it to the 30s, but I've seen highboys from the late 20s before.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

That is AWESOME!

One day I hope to have an old 20s trap kit in my living room as well.

Nice job.

Wow time machine!

Yeah, I took the new head along with a photograph of a bass drum from the 20s, and a tatoo artist painted the head for me. Love the way it turned out.

Really didn't do much except give it a good cleaning. It was just waiting for some TLC. Thanks.

It's actually in a bedroom devoted to my drum collection, but it has been suggested that I display in my living room before. I may just do that, as it definitely is an interesting thing.

That would have been my question about it.

The painting is beautiful and really a matching eyecatcher. Congrats on this little 'kit'.
