It does look a (rewrapped) split-lug version of a Power V. From what I can gather the Power V with split lugs were made in Japan, though I'm not insinuating that it makes it "better or worse". Yamaha stuff in particular seems to be exactly the same whether made in Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia or England.

The wrap is pretty, the price is right and the only thing I don't like about Power V's, the fugly tom mount, is nowhere to be seen.

1964 Ludwig Champagne Super Classic
1970 Ludwig Blue Oyster Super Classic
1977 Rogers Big R Londoner 5 ebony
1972/1978 Rogers Powertone/Big R mix ebony
60's Ludwig Supersensitive
Pearl B4514 COB snare ( the SC snare)
Pearl Firecracker
PJL WMP maple snare
Odds & Sods

Sabians, Paistes, Zildjians, Zyns, UFIPs, MIJs etc

So he purchased it. There is a company in Ontario that provides drum wraps (made in Canada). It's a small, family run business: Walopus. As it turns out, it was the very owner of Walopus that was selling this- his company, his wrap job. Yes it looks very, very nice. No I am not trying to peddle him.

Looks like 6 ply. 13x11, 16x16 and 22x18 (not good at measuring). I believe it's a YESS Tom mount. We put new Emperor coated on the Tom's and a Powerstroke 3 on the BD. Sounds fantastic. No badges to indicate model. Inside shell is stamped in small letters by the vent holes PPI.

I can't upload phtos from my computer anymore.......?

It is indeed. I couldn't believe it either. Gold pinstripe inlay sets it off nicely. When advertised, it was quoted as being in excellent condition. It is in far better shape than that

It's not an original Rydeen kit. Yamaha relaunched those in 2018. They were their lowest line at the time, but even Yamaha's low end stuff is still very well made. I would normally say a Rydeen, because they all came with those dark brown bass hoops regardless of wrap. However, the original Rydeen's came with two separate tom arms with two separate posts (and acceptors) on the bass drum, much like a Pearl kit. This is clearly not that.

It's not a Power V. They had two versions, regular lugs and one piece "long" lungs. I remember the tom holders on those Power V being incredibly bulky. Pictured below in photos 1 & 2. Yours is also clearly not that.

It's not an early Stage Custom. Those had "long" lugs.

It's not the "Stage" series from the 80's, because those lugs were different. Drumroll please.............

I think they are the "DP Series". See photos 3 and 4 below. I'm not familiar with them. They were either the pre-cursor to the Rydeens, or they replaced the Rydeens. Low end Yamahas, but again, still well built.

Also FYI:

That is NOT a YESS tom mount. Those are bolted directly to the shell with four screws. The YESS brackets are only mounted to the shell at two points with two screws, and the bracket sits further out from the shell.

Walopus is a great company! Their owner, Magnus, is on this forum with a username of "Compact Drums". I have been very satisfied with his wraps.

Wow, it never ceases to amaze me the knowledge base on this forum. Thank you, that was a lot of sleuthing you did for me. I greatly appreciate that.

And yes, from what I've seen, Walopus makes a fantastic product. I plan on using some of his product for a future guitar build. He was extremely friendly and passionate about his product; had a large number of re-wrapped snares, guitar amps that had accents on them, guitars etc. I could have spent a long time just shooting the s@#t with him
