Premier Bongo Mounting

Loading...

Hey Y'all,

I just acquired some very cool premier bongos in white marine pearl (much more of a yellow marine pearl now). It has a unique mounting bracket inside the larger drum, photo below. It appears to simply fasten to a metal dowel or post.

The catalogs show it on stands, but they never show the top of the stand. Likewise, I found a photo of Ringo from 1963 with a set of Premier bongos mounted on his bass drum. Is the mounting post just a simple post like on a cowbell holder?

Thanks.

Vintage Premier drums lover here. I have also been researching about this and I think yes you just need to mount it to a cowbell holder. By the way, thanks for that picture. Now if you need it on a stand It is a different story and I haven’t been able to find info on that.

I am currently madly looking for a set of vintage Premier bongos in black finish. There was one for sale online in Germany but I missed it.

Jazzhead,

Good luck in your search.

I’ve been using the bongos at band practice. I have a multi-clamp with a cymbal arm on it. The tilter on the cymbal arm has a very long post on it that is the approximate diameter of a cowbell holder.( I removed the wingnut, washer and felt washer). It works great and is infinitely adjustable. I have it attached to my hi-hat stand. When I want to use them, I loosen a wingnut on the multi-clamp and swing it toward me.

It’s hard to see in the photo, but you can see the clamp on the hi-hat stand.

That’s a cool setup and the adjustability is a plus on that. You wouldn’t be able to do that with a cowbell holder.

Thanks Josh, hopefully I can find what I am looking for sooner or later.
