I would think option 1 is your best bet.

IMHO, the problems with option 2 will be getting the OBP wraps to match well and that a 14 inch Oyster Black floor tom is a somewhat rare and expensive item to purchase ...check Ebay for example and see the pricing on them

I have hunted for a Oyster Black set 22 inch bass with rail mount for 6 months with no luck (found only ones with the dual tom diamond mount holes) so recently bought a 66 Oyster Black set 22/16/13 that match well from 1965-66 and I use a 80's Rocker snare that has been rewrapped with it

Thanks, LudwigBoy. Appreciate your input. There's a 14" OBP FT on ebay for around $2,500, and I thought about asking the seller to consider a lower offer. I could piece together a Downbeat set from ebay sellers, but the price would be close to $4K, and that's with a modified bass drum. Still weighing my options. I'd even consider a blue oyster Downbeat in hopes of saving a few bucks.

Glad I could provide some help, HummDrum. I saw that OBP 14 you mention and think it has been on ebay for a while; are you looking for Classic lugs or Club Date lugs?

Perhaps the Oyster Blue would be a better option from view of cost.

I have a beautiful Club Date OBP that I am thinking of selling. The bass has a Pearl double tom mount on it. The rack tom is thankfully using a RIMS mount and was not drilled other than the original Ludwig mount. The prior owner indtalled the mount and I believe he also repainted the interiors. The drums look and play incredibly well. The Pearl mount may not be for everyone, but it certainly allows for whatever positioning you may desire.

This is not the best picture you can get a sense of how the drums have not really faded or turned brown like a lot of these wraps have done.

I also have a Pioneer snare in OBP that I had picked up about a year ago. The wrap has some brown in from fading over the years.

No worries. I understand. I also have a 20, 12, 16 with classic lugs, clear interiors. It has a Slingerland mount on it though that the original owner had the music store do when he bought them. Of course, it also has the holes for the original rail mount. It is tough to find complete kits totally unmolested. I would love to find a 14" with the classic lugs or a 16" club date to go with the kits I have. Of course, those 14" floors are expensive.
