Ludwig WMP Help

Loading...

I need some help putting a value on my Ludwig wmp kit. It's clean with little fade and no extra holes. The drums are complete, but they are from different years.

9x13-white interior, no date, serial number indicates it's 65-66.

16x16- clear interior, dated 1968.

14x22-pre-serial number, clear interior.

Thanks.

The prices can be all over the place depending on condition. And for some the fact that the drums are from different years would probably make a difference, but for some it won't. Based on your research do you have an idea what you want to get for them?

I'm not sure, that's why I came here. Let me rephrase the question, how much do you think each drum is worth on it's own?

All drums are in excellent condition, the edges are good, the interiors are clean and there's no pitting.

Take Gary's advice. Breathe deep and wait for it. That kit is better than ANY 'players kit'. The badges all match and the wraps look the same. Only the diehard collectors would look down on the 'orphanage'.

I can't value the pieces separately, but if I were selling the kit, I wouldn't take less than $1200 for certain.

Unless you can find multiple customers that need each drum individually to finish an uncompleted set from one of those years, I think their value is being sold as a set. I couldn't tell you the individual prices of each drum, but as a set, if they are in good condition, I would estimate from a low of $1100 to a high of $1500 based on my own experience and the prices I'm seeing in general. The one caveat are the BD spurs. While they may have been factory installed, those short telescoping spurs were not typical on a 14x22 super classic BD drum from that period. The ones that were generally used were the folding gull shaped ones. If you were selling the BD drum individually to a purist collector that might be an issue. While it probably wouldn't be an issue for me, it was the first thing I noticed in your earlier thread regarding the tom mount problem. If I noticed it, a purist collector certainly will.

They are definitely factory installed, there are no extra holes. I had WFL kit with the same legs, considering it's a pre-serial number, maybe it was special ordered. I actually like them better than the fold out legs.

You can look and see what nice WMP kits of the same sizes and finish are selling for and take 10-15% off due to them being orphans. Great players kit in really nice condition! GLWS!:)

Thanks for the help, I think I have a pretty good idea of the value. I was thinking around $1,200, I just needed some confirmation.
