I acquired a 22" and a 12" red sparkle B/O pointe badge 3 ply Ludwig. I added a 16" ft 3ply rewrapped to match. I sold the kit to a guy for $750. Now he's asking me what I would charge to rewrap it in blue sparkle. I've never rewrapped anything for money. he bluse sparkle wrap from Jammin sams cost $169.99. How much should I charge to do this. Plus I might add a 13" tom to the deal.
How much should I charge to rewrap these drums?

Figure your approximate hours and decide what it is worth to you an hour- I do Artwork and people say I charge too little- if it is 'fun' for me- (I'm retired)- I charge less- more difficult/tedious- I charge more. I did a 3 piece last year for $300 -they supplied wrap. I have done sanding, wrapping, bearing edges, painting- and ranged from $10 to $45 an hour... depends on your area and what you think they'll pay I guess! Around here (Midwest) you're lucky in the $20 range. (BTW- I'd rather have kept the red!!)
At my shop I charge $75 per hour for furniture upholstery and $100 per hour for automotive interiors. He said he would strip the shells. I'm sure he intends to remove the lugs. I can't remember if the original wrap goes into the seam of the shell. Im pretty sure it will be a lot of work to remove the factory wrap. If I wrap over the original it will be hard to find heads that wil fit I was thinking about using Jammin Sams tape method to install the new wrap. I prefer the glue method.

There you go= you have a standard/ stick to it. In my area (Iowa) I do auto upholstery and they balk at $40 an hour/ Now I'm no top-notch genius but my Street Rod interiors have won awards at Goodguys.......but getting more $$$??? They just say they'll call back and don't... Good Luck and glue by all means... Glad you can get what you are worth!
I would call a drum shop that does repairs and get a quote from them. then knock off 15% or 20% what they would charge.

I'm 3rd generation in the auto trim and upholstery business. I have 15 employees total, 5 on auto and 8 furniture and 2 office and Me lol. I enjoy going to car shows and seeing out work all over the place. It's so cool to see our work in numerous magazines. Restoring drums is a big hobby of mine, but it's not too different from installing a vinyl top, or a complete interior restoration on a 57 t-bird or 64 corvette. Restoring drums comes very easy with that kind of experience. So turn a hobby into a job. Then it's work. I get to choose the jobs I want to do.

Hi Poppy
I've seen your work over the years and it's all been top-notch.
Here's a link to the Precision Drums website regarding their re-wrapping and wrap removal charging structure.
Might be a guide for you...??

EXTREMELY cool stuff poppy! Keep those ideas flowing- I'm all alone in my 'artsy endeavors' (no workers but ME)- and have kinda gotten a bit away from the cars- did an interior this Summer but have been playing more with my band lately- I could see those stools in a Hard Rock cafe.... lotsa talent man- charge more for the rewrap!
