Advice on Storing Vintage Ludwigs and Nuts and Bolts!

Loading...

Hi all,

I may need to store my early 60s Ludwig’s for a year or so. I intend to put them in protection racket cases and put the. In my dry loft. It gets cold in winter and warm in summer as in the midlands in the UK, near Birmingham home of led zeppelin and black sabbath and a few others. Advice appreciated.

Secondly, I need the wing bolts that go into the floor Tom legs as well as the bass drum legs. The early 60s type. The guy has put in homemade bolts with huge heads for grip. They are original thread. Also tension rod washers all round my downbeatkit. It’s funny what people take off. Andy advice on where I could get these parts? Pref in the Uk but ok to get from the US. Again advice appreciated.

Drastic temperature changes like you mention are not good on the wood or wrap on vintage drums.Temp regulated storage would help these drums live on much longer.

Nick Hopkins,maybe?

Ludwig collection of sets and pioneer snare drums.
Example of Rogers,Slingerland,Gretsch,Premier and Ajax sets.
Various '60's and '70's US,English and Japanese snare drums.

Fully agree could cause issues. For parts and drums, if you go to a scientific goods store and get desiccant rocks that will help some on the moisture part. You know, those little bag of rocks that come in computer, tv boxes etc that say Don't Eat.

No Guru - I just love collecting & learning about vintage drums!
