Here`s how Noble and Cooley do it. if you look close, you will see that same thick seam. They`re bending Beechwood.

I'd be interested in this, too! I don't know that I've ever seen or heard of a 1-ply snare shell offered in the Olympic series. Then again, did Premier offer any 1-ply shells in the 60's or 70's?

Premier had some Craviotto solid shelled Modern Classic snares around 2005, aside from that anything prior to the early 80's is always 3 ply construction.

Premier didn't use Maple till 1992 with the Signia series.

Thanks for this information! Right now, my gut tells me that the drum in question is the typical 3-ply shell with rings. The OP has not yet gotten back to us. He needs to remove the heads and take better pictures. Looking at a shell through the snare-side head isn't revealing very clearly what the shell is.

No,...saying I don`t see plies in supplied photo`s and think otherwise. BIG difference in what you think I mean.

The OP has it in his hands. Thinks it may be. I see a blurry seam. I see blurry edge.

I wont and didn`t leave out the possibility of us being wrong, but also give credit for him being able to see plywood.

OK, got it. You don't see plies and think it's a solid shell. The others believe it's a 3-ply and you think they are correct also.

I said I don`t see plies and one indication so it`s possible and a better picture would clear it up. The others seem more sure. Again a better pic would clear it up.
