I have a vintage drum set - i'm thinking based on the lugs and straight bass drum legs that it is a Silvertone kit. The shells are mahogany luan and are thin - 5 ply? Can anyone confirm this?
Silvertone Drum Identification
Hello chuckg... and Welcome to the forum!
Those parts look very much like those that would have been supplied by Star/Tama. Silvertone was just one of dozens of names of "stencil" kits made by the Japanese in the 60's and early 70's. If memory serves, I believe "Silvertone" may have been the name chosen by Sears. They had lots of Silvertone drums, amps, guitars, console stereos, etc.
Your parts look a bit more modern, say late 70's or even early 80's.

Thanks. I acquired the kit in 1982 used - not sure how long previous owner had the kit. There were no name badges on the kit but all the hardware matched. I would agree to late 70's based on when I purchased - also the design of the center double tom mount (i'll post a photo tonight).

Yes, pictures go a long way to figuring all this out!

Photos of the center double tom mount.
Pics of the internal dampers....
Pics of the snare. Everything is original to when I purchased except for the strainer. That was replaced.

Hi Chuck,
Those lugs were used by Pearl in the late 60's to very early 70's. It was their top line lug. Not quite sure if the snare goes with the rest of the kit, since everything else looks like Star/Tama

Thanks.
The internal dampers look to be all Pearl.
I heard from someone on a Star forum who did not think the lugs were Star - they leaned towards Pearl.
I looked deeper and found a Pearl stencil kit under the name "Tempro" that looks similar.
What throws me is the center tom mount - not a typical Pearl mount.
Thanks again!!
Actually, my kit looks a lot like this.....
