I was offered this Slingerland kit in a walnut finish for my Ludwig red sparkle kit. Both kits are 3ply with a 12,13,16,22. I kinda like them, any thoughts?
Slingerland Trade
You know my answer
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
I actually don't, but I'm guessing you think I should keep the Ludwigs.
Well, since the Ludwig FT is not original to the kit, I say trade for the Slingerlands.
22, 13, 16, 14x5
1968 Ludwig Hollywood kit Blue Oyster Pearl
22, 12, 13, 16
A Zildjian cymbals (50's-70's)
I'm a Slingerland enthusiast and not fond of Ludwig drums. However, I prefer wrapped drums much more than unwrapped drums. Having said that, I would still opt for the Slingies.
The Slingerlands are post '74. How far post? 3-ply or 5-ply? Born together? Quality drums no doubt. Strictly in terms of dollars and cents the Ludwigs would probably fetch a better price on any given day.
The Slingerlands are 3ply, just like the Ludwig.
Keep the Ludwigs.
It's just my personal taste, but I grossly dislike brown wood grain drums. They look like furniture. No thanks. :2Cents:

Normally, i would too (and i get what you mean)
But in this particular case, i'd be all over that trade
The brown just seems to "work" in this case
