Modern Drum Syndrome

Loading...

I'm sure most of us know of a company or persons that are afflicted with this condition. The new gadget or drum design to enhance the drum sound. Well, the newest company to do this is Mapex, they made some robotic looking tom holder that looks like it came out of The Terminator movie. It's just getting nuts how far these companies will go to sell drums.

Which tom holder are you referring to? Can you provide a picture or link? I looked at the available offerings at Mapex and didn't see anything I would consider "Terminator-like"!

All the mapex stuff I remember seeing was a good sales pitch for any other maker.

These new gadgets are not made for the working drummer, can you imagine having to lug two or three of those around in your hardware bag? It's insane.

The block "M" on the thing gives it away. From the brain of Randy May.

Your right about that,i am a working drummer and own a set Saturn v, I use a vintage Ludwig 1400. Snare stand does the job less weight in my trap case. If some of those kids ever become working drummers, there is no doubt in my mind that they will go from cool to practical

Crazy. No complaints here, though. I like people that keep attempting to make new stuff. We could all be out living in caves, banging on hollow logs with tree limb.
