Having been friends with the ganja back in my earlier years ,I can see a certain amount of trepidation that folks have about legal dope and driving. When somebody tells me they drive better while stoned I just go WTF! If you can't feel the brake pedals and the roadway is strobing like an early Rush concert ,how in the hell are you a better driver?Been there done that, and if you can't see that, you shouldn't be driving at all.

Even I wont drive stoned. It hinders your reaction time and attention span. Like booze, don`t smoke and drive is very good advice. It`s a day is done kids are in bed, honey come here type thing.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

One of our good members here at VDF, who worked for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band for years, has advised not to get baked before a gig....saying you are never playing as good as you think you are.

I remember reading an interview about the difference between studio work in the UK and US(I think it was Clapton).

He said in the UK they would get stoned and jam until it sounded good ,where as in the US ,folks just came in played the charts and went to the next session.

Would legal weed increase the rate of stoned drivers that much? People who are already regularly smoking pot aren't going to change their habits and start driving around with it just because it's legal. And those who are already driving under its influence are just that, already doing it. They're out there on the road and they're an issue police are already dealing with.

I guess there could be a small increase based on inexperienced people who don't really know their limits or understand that it inhibits their ability to drive (idiots). But are the idiots who don't know that really candidates for suddenly going out and getting high just because it's legal? Those people probably aren't going to join in just for the heck of it, right?

So again, will there really be that much of an increase in stoned driving just because weed is legal?

saw on the news a few days ago, car crashes are up 14% in the four states that have legalized pot.

Thank you!

Gentlemen:

I originally posted simply as a spoof or satire on our Canadian government's decision to legalize marijuana. I did not expect such divers reactions. Your comments however, have proven very thought provoking. I am neither pro nor con concerning the issue. There are good arguments on both sides. Whatever one`s personal beliefs are ,they are none of my business! All I can add is that people should remember that they are responsible for not only themselves but, for other human beings. Let`s be responsible! End of sermon.

With any drug comes responsibility. Weed is still better for you than alcohol, so it is good to see some countries (and states) get rid of this old double standard. Peace and love! flower

Personally, I'd rather that they made alcohol illegal and cigarettes illegal and make using a phone while driving a mandatory jail sentence.

All the weed smokers I know aren't typically on the road. They are on the couch! lol!
