Bought this drum about 7 years ago and it was in excellent shape, super clean. Since then it has developed these greasy spots that do come off. I can clean off the spots with soap and water but should I wax the shell or use some kind of product to keep the spots from coming back?

I would do just what you mentioned Jeff. Clean the area and any type of good wax/polish to coat it for the future.

I suggest a liquid car wax using the same process as your car. That wax is made to prevent weather and sun damage and I doubt you will be leaving it out in the rain or snow. I put it on my wrap and liquid wax don`t build up in the tight spots like around the lugs, badge grommet, or mounts. Bumper wax on the stands is really good too, prevents the spots and scratches from rusting.
