Yahama Drums??

Can anyone tell me anything about Yahama drums? there is a listing on Austin craigslist for a “vintage” set of these with zero information. I’ve asked for more info about these from the seller, but I can’t even get the shell sizes from him. when i try to google Yahama, it just gives me results for Yamaha! anyway, i was just curious about what these are, what they are made of, and generally if they are any good at all.

thanks for any info!

Not Yamaha, but they look like Pearl drums from the mid to late 70's, based on the bass drum's and top tom's mount. Snare may be a different make, certainly a different color. Just by looking at the photos, it looks like the sizes are 12/13/16 with a 14 snare. Guessing a 22" on the bass. Not 100% sure, but the spurs on the bass drum look more modern and may not be original?

These Pearl shells are good, but certainly not worth $500 especially with no other hardware included. That price would be at the very absolute top end of the spectrum. I would say closer to $300 is more reasonable. If there is no mounting hardware (tom arms or FT legs), then I would offer $150-200 at most. As always, price is subject to change based on condition and/or non-originality of parts, extra holes etc.

Not sure those are in fact vintage Yamaha's. They look MIJ, but no way are they worth anywhere near $500.00 lol. I don't see any badges, etc.

If you're going to spend $500.00, there's MUCH better vintage MIJ options out there. I'd pass.

Thanks for the info. I also felt that whatever they were 500 was going to be too high of a asking price. If they were excellent vintage drums I would imagine the seller to include any and all info. I like the wrap and am currently looking for a used kit in the $200 - $500 range so i was willing to go check them out to assess. these will mostly be hobby drums.

So just to be clear, is YAHAMA not even a thing? did the seller just misspell YAMAHA twice on this listing? that was the most confusing part to me. wasn’t sure if YAHAMA was just a cheap yamaha knock off or something.

thanks again!

Given the large number of stencil names at the time it wouldn't surprise me if there was a Yahama brand
