Concerning the virgin bass drum and a Swivo collet on the 13" tom, my gut tells me that this was part of a larger kit, most likely with double bass drums. There were probably double rack toms mounted on a Swivo floor stand between the bass drums.

As to the "Franks" decal, that is pretty cool! Frank's Drum Shop was THE place to be back in the day! Myself, I'd try to keep the badge intact on the drum!

Get those Rogers cleaned up and let us know your progress.

Thanks for the info. Being part of a larger kit makes a lot of sense. That could also explain the double 16" floor tom. I would never dream of taking of the stickers. It's part of the story. I'm happy I got a players kit Rogers that 3 ply with re-rings.

I am worried about one thing though. There appears to be a indent on the bass drum rering. Is this anything to worry about?

Franks Drum Shop was known for ordering in drums with no mounting hardware so they could install whatever brand of hardware the customer preferred. That could explain the virgin bass drum as the customer may have wanted to use a floor stand or a snare stand for the tom. Another possibility is that it was originally part of a double bass drum outfit and again the tom(s) were on a floor stand.

Could have been someone's "Louie Bellson meets Buddy Rich" set which would explain the virgin bass drum (the one on the drummers left) and twin 16x16 floor toms. Lots of other possibilities, when you bought drums at a place such as Franks the options were pretty wide open.

Or another matching 16x16 came along cheap and a previous owner snagged it...I do that sort of thing all the time.

I use to hang there a lot to just smell the drums buy a set a sticks etc if you don’t want franks badges I’ll take them lol

This will make a fantastic players kit. I had a set of 3-ply 9/72's that had a beautiful warm tone & I'm I'm sure these will sing beautifully.They're nice & light to cart around too! Those Block wraps are solid and will be a charm to to restore to their former glory, speaking of which PLEASE leave that Frank's Drum Shop sticker on there.

Since the kick is virgin and the 13" rack tom has the swivomatic mount you could find yourself a Swivomatic tom stand (like the pic I've attached) to complete the set-up. Just a thought. Anyway, enjoy the restoring ahead of you & again, congratulations!

I don't think that it would be sacrilege to install a Swivomatic tom holder on that bass drum. If the installation is done properly, only you would know that the drum did not leave the factory or Frank's Drum Shop with that part. A quick search of eBay or the various drum forums will turn up the Swivo receiver and tom arm. Be prepared to spend as much as $100 for the Swivo hardware--it's well worth it--there's no need to be in such a hurry that you'd pay more than that.. If you don't feel confident to do the installation yourself, take the drum and the mounting hardware to a local drum shop for them to install it. Once this set is cleaned up, it can be your go-to drum set for any application. Go for it!

I actually prefer my rack tom on a snare stand so I'm not that worried about mounting the 13" tom.

The indent does not look like a physical bump of any kind, and factory paint on it. Factory rering with a extra bit of scarfing - not a problem to worry about. Been there a long time............

I mentioned that installing the Swivomatic receiver on the bass drum would not be sacrilege. In my not so humble opinion, placing a Swivo-equipped tom on a snare stand goes beyond sacrilege.
