Canopus Jeff Hamilton flat base stands with 6 mm tilters-for small hole cymbals

Loading...

Greetings,

Jeff has always been one of my favorites. This trio video is superb. I know that Remo isn't making drums anymore, so Jeff is now with Mapex. Obviously, he has his own line of cymbals from Sabian. I'm interested in the cymbal stands he is using. I did an online search and these are his signature stands from Canopus. Canopus makes "regular" flat base stands, but these Jeff Hamilton models are different. Using a 6mm tilter is cool, so those that have small hole cymbals can use this stand. I like the tilter mechanism. Reminds me of an old 80's Pearl I have.

Incidentally, doesn't Jeff have THE best sounding drums and cymbals? Those Black Panthers sound mighty fine.

Anyway, thought I would share this, as there is another "vintage" option out there.

The Ludwig flat based stand that was replaced by the Atlas model a few years back was similar to that Canopus model including the 6mm cymbal post. Of course the new Atlas has an 8mm post (because obviously that is 2mm "better" ) which is irksome. Fortunately I bought several when they were being discontinued.

I saw Hamilton with his trio a few years back at a clinic held at the Drumpad. He's an awesome drummer.

The new Tama classic stands work with small hole cymbals.

Are you sure? I own a couple and they have 8mm posts.

These seem ideal if they’re not heavier or more costly than 1400 stands, but I doubt either is the case.
