I don't go on ebay Italy and ask "how much I pay you 80 dollar for everything include ship and mark gift" so why do these morons even try?
They try because they simply don't have any of this stuff in Italy but they do have money, and that money goes quite far because the USD is so weak.
Having lived in both Italy and America (as well as England) in my life, I can tell you that on a day-to-day level, Italy is my preference. The food blows away USA on any day, wine is cheaper than coca cola, architecture, art, history, etc. America talks about energy saving but does nothing while Fiat makes production cars that run on methane (mine runs on propane). I live minutes from some of the best wine in the world, skiing and the sea front.
But Italians don't have a lot of old guitars and drums. It was a poor country after WWII (remember even Vox had its guitars made here because it was "cheap" in the 60s like Asia is today) so not a lot of expensive US stuff (and it was expensive back in the day) came here for the same reason custom shop Fenders aren't going to Cambodia en masse today.
Couple all the above with the fact that Italians can be sneaky, selfish bastards---they have little respect for the law, they don't pay taxes if they can help it, they drive like maniacs, etc and you can see why they'll try any trick they can to screw customs and screw sellers if they have to.
Ebay here is a joke by the way. No Italian will ever actually sell anything at auction, it's a giant storefront buy it now for the few things they do have.
