If you are like me, you probably trying to get the best deal on things you need, willing to pay for the good stuff but not wasting money neither.

As I was calculating the amount of wrap material I need for my Rogers Holiday, I realized that buying pieces pre-cut would cost me about 20- 25% more than buying full sheet . So I figure buying the full sheet and cutting it myself to size would save me at least that much. So I dust-up my CAD program and enter size and dimension in my software to get the most out of the 27x54 standard sheet.

I realized something very curious. Because anything over 16" diam. requires two piece of wrap, there would have been too much waste of material. however this is true for SOME type of wrap.

WE have the tendency to use the wrap material along the 54" length. So in the case of a 12x8 and 13x9 there is too much left over , along the 27" length. But this same wrap left over could be used for the bottom piece of the 24" bass drum, instead of buying another sheet. Simply by using this piece height-wise instead of length wise we can achieve this great saving. However this is only true for Sparkle, glass glitter, solid color and SOME pearls, certainly NOT for a wrap with a lengthwise design like bowling ball or onyx etc etc.

I apply this idea to my project of Blue Glass Glitter, and instead of 4 sheet ( I have a 12x8, 13x19, 15x12, 16x16, 18x16 and 24x14) I could get away with 3 sheet so instead of $460.00 It would cost me $345.00. And if I compare it to the pre-cut cost of $580.00 you can see the saving.

Wrap material has gotten so expensive lately few people realizes, when they find a great deal on a vintage drum set, that the wrap will cost them more that the kit itself.
