Rough value for Gretsch Drop G concert toms

Loading...

Hey Guys,

I have these 4 Gretsch concert toms that came with a partial Camco kit I bought. I am considering selling or trading. I'm guessing Gretsch concert toms are a little more desirable than most other concert toms due to Phil Collins fame but I do not know much about Gretsch. I do not really have an idea of the value and am looking for your guys help with a fair asking price.

There are 4 toms. 10, 12, 13, and 14". 3 toms are Drop G badges and the other is a regular stop badge I guess. I do not know what color they are.

They are in players condition. There are scuffs and scratches on the finish but the chrome looks like it should polish up nicely.

They appear to have all of the original hardware but then again I am not a Gretsch expert.

There are 2 Gretsch Giant double tom stands.

Any idea of what to ask for these guys?

Thanks.

I think those are probably Walnut stain but they almost look like Burnt Orange in your picture. I doubt they are as I don't think that color was available during the "Drop G" era...maybe on the tail end of it. That interests me because I have a Burnt Orange set (1987) that is a darker version and looks a lot like your drums. If they were a decent match I might be interested in these to add-on to that set, depending on the price.

Because of that possible interest, and, also really having no idea, I won't hazard a price guesstimate but would mention that concert toms in general are not worth as much as double headed toms (Mr. Collins notwithstanding) and these have possibly the least desirable tom mounting system ever developed. But still they are Gretsch and look to be in fairly nice shape so I'm sure there is some value there.

Thanks for the information. I do not think these are a burnt orange color. I am color blind so asked my son and he said they are a reddish brown color. So maybe walnut as you suggested or maybe rosewood?

Probably one of those two. Rosewood is actually red with not much (no) brown to it. I'd say 80% walnut, 20% Rosewood. These stains can vary quite a bit in shade as they were applied by hand.

My set (pictured below)was ordered as Burnt Orange (by me) and the color code on the tags inside each drum says they are burnt orange but they aren't the typical burnt orange you usually see...although they match each other perfectly.

Now that is a beautiful set!

Here are a couple of pics showing the same tom in and out of the sun in an attempt to better show the color.
