newbie with a slingerland kit

Loading...

hi to all. New here from South Cakilaki. ive been playin bout 27 years , and grew up ownin and trashin vintage kits....Now alot smarter and respectful , and regretful of all the kits i let get away.....but it was funDOH

anyway i just got a slingerland kit (red glass sparkle) in great shape withall hardware original..but the bass drum is 50's from chicago and everything else is 60's niles...did i get a good deal for $700..its in excellent shape...

in the pic i put reg lugs on the bass drum and different legs on the floor tom , cause the straight legs would deadin or choke the tom

Welcome to the forum

I dig Slingerland too......

If the kit came complete with young Buddy there, I'd say you got an Incredible Deal !!

Welcome

Yeah, pretty much. The deal on any drums, as you know, is, do they sound good to you, and are you comfortable with the deal? Are they in good shape? If you answered yes, then you got a good deal. If you think the sound sux, or you don't like the sound, no amount would have gotten you to buy them. See? It's easy.Jump For Joy

Here's another hint for you: replace all the rubber feet on all drums. You live on hard floors, so it will kill resonance. The current craze is Pearl Air Suspension Feets.

Nice looking kit,is that a slingy aluminum snare?I used to have one.How does it sound?Did you find the kit locally?I have lived in the Atlanta area since 1975 and I don't run into alot of slings especially 60's era, ,I don't think they had a strong dealer presence here,it seems like the shops that carried slingerlands never lasted long.Slingerlands seem to be creeping up in price somewhat,so 700.00 with hardware sounds good especially if they are in very good condition.
