Yes! I love the sizes too. All 3 ply, clear interiors. Not a crack in them to speak of, really. They look like they were made last week. No extra holes, no rips or tears in the "leatherette". Just beautiful. I put Evans hydraulic heads on all, love the deeper sound they give and much easier to tune!

Hi John! Thanks for the compliment. I cleaned those baby's up, stripped em all down and made em shine! What type of wrap do you have on your 51N? I assumed my set was 1976 based on these S/N

13" tom 225266

14" tom 217356

18" floor tom 219751

24" bass drum 225133

I have a Slingerland COB 14 x 6.5 snare I purchased for the set afterward, the S/N 394297. That snare is one of the best sounding snares I've ever played. Vey loud, but crisp! I'd be interested in your S/N as well as the year you believe yours to be from.

Regards

d

Alloyboy, I bought my kit brand new in '78... as I recall it had been in the store for around 8 months and I am in OZ so '77 production would appear about correct. A bit of an overlap on the serial numbers so kits are same time frame.

Yours ……………………………………. Mine

13" tom 225266...………………………...216292

14" tom 217356...………………………...216475

18" floor tom 219751...………………...217969

24" bass drum 225133 ………………...217928

COB 14 x 6.5 snare 394297...……...243239

My original snare #218??? was stolen from backstage at a gig. so I bought a 6.5 Dynasonic which I used with the kit for many years.

About 8 years ago I spotted the slightly later #243239 (around '78) which I bought from the US to get the kit back to original again.

My kit also has the BD tom mount centered , and on later kits with the Super Set O Matic the BD mounts were forward to the RESO head. (I was not happy with the Super Set O Matic mount) and replaced it within a few weeks of owning the kit. Nowdays I play the kit as 1up 2down with the 14 on a snare stand.

(Grandson on the kit)

Cheers

John

Wow! Sweet looking set, I dig the dual pearl wrap! Thanks for all the info John, I really appreciate it! I'd say our #'s are very close, very close. I always assumed mine was from 1976, but yours with smaller S/N from '77 puts mine around that time too. I didn't realize they made the Custom Cordova into 1977, only 75 and 76. But I guess if they had the material, and someone wanted it, they'd make it '77...good to know thank you! My kit came with the SOS when I bought it. It is also centered. I have another Slingerland kit, which I believe to be the (5 ply) Time Machine and 1979 (but now not so sure, S/N are in the low 400s!) the SOS is more to the front of the BD. I'll have to post some pics of that one. I'm glad to hear you were able to get another snare close in year to the original purchase! Thanks again for all your info...wow, 1977 huh? Interesting! Good lookin boy, that grandson of yours! Keep him on those skins!
