Opinions Please

This looks pretty good but I'd like other opinions. I'm after a warm darker tone for a jazz snare. Not something I'd be bashing on. I've asked about the edges but haven't heard back. Anything I should be wary of?

Thanks in advance.

The tone control knob looks a little "off" to me.. might not be original.

Also, what do they mean by "needs a little snare wire tune up." ?? Looks like it may be missing a part of the strainer because each photo doesn't have it in the normal operating position.

For that price, I may pass.. unless it just speaks to you.

The tone control is a 60's MIJ. Can't tell if there are extra holes. As to the strainer, it's missing the drop-gate slider piece. I do see part of this piece in one of the pictures, but can't tell if it's complete. The seller needs to be more forthcoming in the pictures to properly show it. How can the seller even state "amazing sound" if the strainer doesn't work? If you have the parts, then I'd work out a better deal with the seller. If you have to go searching for the parts, and the expense involved, I'd pass. Just my :2Cents:

It certainly has charm, and it's appealing. But I'd pass. It needs more than a tune-up. That kind of minimization tends to put me off a deal.

There are probably warm, dark sounding snares available in that price range just waiting for you!

Great points gents. Thanks. I'll ask specific questions about the strainer and see what he says. Certainly not going to jump on this without a few clarifications.

The strainer is the biggest problem.

It is missing some very important parts and 1 part is broken off.

See pic

Muffler is not correct and is hitting rim.

Many difficult parts to find sir.

Thanks GGD. I can clearly see from your picture that the whole inside part of the strainer is indeed missing. That's a bit more than a "little snare wire tune up." Enough in fact that I'll pass on it. Thanks much! You guys are the best.

Something good to know: Silver Anniversary drum lugs don't have inserts for the tension rods.

The lugs are threaded, and often strip out, rendering the drum pretty much unplayable......

Is there any other color available?
