Old Zildjian Hi-Hats (please help)

Loading...

I am looking to sell these cymbals but don't know what they are worth. Could someone please tell me what era they are from and what a good asking price may be? I bought them used about 12 years ago and they seemed old then. One weighs 1160 grams and the other weighs 1360 grams. The stamp measure 1-1/2" from top to bottom. Below are some pictures to help evaluate the hats.

Thanks.

My 60s Zildjian hats are having trouble selling on Craigslist in Portland. I'm getting all kinds of offers on them, the highest one being $85. Man, it's a buyer's market right now.

It seems that way for just about everything. I was hoping to get $100.00 but that may be difficult.

$100 seems very reasonable to me. About 6 years back, I got my first set of vintage Zildjian hats. They cost me $125. I felt like I got a deal because I saw so many other hats selling for $150-160. Nowadays, I'm seeing New Beats listed for $140 or so, with links to musiciansfriend.com showing how much they cost new, but nobody's buying. Everybody's low-balling. People are selling stuff for seemingly less than it's worth, but buyers are considering that too high. If you want $100, you'll have to list them a *little* higher so you can account for the inevitable haggling.

I wonder how long it's going to take for the used market to climb back up...???

[COLOR="DarkRed"]It's a fair price to ask...and get. Only thing is, those weights are a bit heavy. They are very heavy for 14's...and still on the heavy side for 15's......

They are a lot heavier than my more modern Newbeats but are suprisingly responsive. I think they sound great for hard rock or heavy metal. I am still curious as to the era of these pups.

I have an old pair of quick beats, the previous owner told me they where purchased new in 1972. They are much heavier than my pre-serial, pre-laser etched new beats where I would place some where in the 80's vintage, Might these be an early set of quick beats?

Cool, now I know how to advertise them.

Those tend to go for about $100-125 on eBay. Those are a little heavy, but for a guy like me who plays metal but likes vintage cymbals, those might be great.
