I have a Sonor Safari set and love it. I use it in very small venues and on some jazz gigs. Sounds great and top notch hardware. Much better quality than the breakbeat set. No offense to owners of those sets. I at one point converted my 18" floor tom to a bass drum and fooled around with it some but converted it back to a floor because I have a Gretsch Jazz Catalina set too, and it has a 18" bass drum. Plus the smallest tom I had to match was a 13". The smaller jungle sets are fun to play.

Great looking and sounding kit.
I had a 10x9, 12x11 FT, 16 kit for a time made from late Chicago era shells. I used a 13x3 Ludwig snare with it, which seemed the right sort of diameter given the rest of the kit.

It was really punchy too. The riser I used was a Trick riser (long since discontinued) from well before the Dunnett days and all the conversion hardware on the market now.
Like the looks of those Steve. That black is classy. Sure that someone is enjoying them now.

Just delicious!!!Did you think about 16" black woodhoops (with matched inlay, of course)?
Wood hoops would put the cost too high, I’m still looking for a 14x22” bass drum with the double tom mount which will cost plenty.
But you are right that would look really cool.
I can also use these mounts on my Yamaha turbo tour custom, which has nearly every size.

sounds awesome, nice work. looks fun to play as well.
I'm in the process of putting together a similar vibe kit, mostly frankenparts and ugly as heck, but a ton of fun... work in progress...
Thanks for the heads up on the tom conversion parts, lovely.
